Last night Emily and I were discussing the fact that St Patrick’s Day falls on a Friday this year. Emily said the Bishop (that would be Justin Cardinal Rigali) of Philadelphia granted an indult so that people will be permitted to eat meat. I replied that the meatless requirement should stay. If people had to consider that they will need to go to Confesssion, then perhaps they would not indulge. Alas, we ruminated, people will eat meat and NOT go to Confession, thereby putting their souls in peril.

I decided that St Patrick is rolling in his grave. St Patrick, pray for us!
